Chartram's special strength is in consolidating and packing freight to minimise shipping costs. Our packers are experienced in handling all types of freight and know how to pack a consignment to reduce the overall cube and volume.

It is more cost-effective to send one large consignment than several small separate pieces. We can hold part-deliveries until a full order becomes complete for shipment and will keep you advised of order status so that you can decide when you want to ship.

Our staff will dismantle bulky items where appropriate, or pack smaller pieces inside larger pieces. For instance, furniture may be suitable for 'flat-packing', which not only reduces its size, but also makes it more stable and less liable to damage in transit. Or, by opening the packaging, we may be able to pack several cartons inside a cupboard, again, reducing the volume of the consignment, but also reducing the number of pieces being shipped and thereby minimising the chance of goods being lost in transit.

These simple measures can dramatically reduce the volume of a load and save hundreds or thousands of pounds in freight costs.
